LOCATION - The park is 32 miles southwest of Watertown off New York 3 on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario.


ACTIVITIES - Southwick Beach is open mid-May through mid-October. Camp in the 112-site campground with 44 electrical hookups and a trailer dumping station. Go swimming and boating in carry-in boats only. Hike the nature trails. Concessions are available. In the winter, go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.


Southwick is adjacent to Lakeview Wildlife Management Area's hiking trails and coastal sand dunes.


In Watertown, wander through historic downtown. On Thursday evenings during the summer, go to the "Square" for a weekly concert. For Whitewater excitement, experience the Black River with 14 major rapids packed into an 8-mile stretch of river. Experienced guides are available. Annual Watertown events include the Bravo Italiano Fest every September. B'Gosh and B'Gorah is celebrated in March during its annual Irish festival. The Snowtown U.S.A. Winter Festival is held 10 days each winter. For information, call 315-788-4400.

Incoming pilots can land at Watertown International Airport 5 miles west of Watertown. Rental cars are available.
