LOCATION - The park is north of Rumford via Maine 17 and northwest of Farmington via Maine 4 on the south shore of Rangeley Lake.


FEATURES - Rangeley Lake State Park has 1.2 miles of shoreline along Rangeley Lake and encompasses 111 small lakes and ponds.


ACTIVITIES - Rangeley Lake is famous for its trout and landlocked salmon fishing. In addition, over forty trout and salmon lakes and ponds are located within 10 miles of the park.


Enjoy a picnic and camping in one of 50 campsites with a trailer dump station. Go swimming and boating from the ramp. No boat rentals are available in the park, but are nearby.


Annual activities include a Fourth of July picnic and fireworks display, sidewalk art show, blueberry and logging festivals, plus auctions and concerts. In late July, attend Logging Museum Field Days. For details, contact the Chamber of Commerce at 207-864-5364.


Maine's second largest ski area, Saddleback Ski Resort, is 8 miles east of Rangeley and has both alpine and cross-country skiing.


Snowmobiles have access to 150 miles of groomed trails winding through Maine's rugged western mountains that link Mount Blue and Rangeley Lake state parks.


Many hiking trails, including the Appalachian Trail, leave from the Rangeley area. Hike trails in Saddleback Ski Area and Summer Lake Preserve.


Nearby attractions include historic Fort Halifax and Katahdin Iron Works. Play eighteen holes of golf in Mingo Springs. Ride aboard the Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes narrow gauge railroad on the first and third Sundays from May-October.


Incoming pilots can land at Rangeley Municipal Airport, located 2 miles northwest of town. Rental cars are available. Take a scenic flight from here until ice-out, when you can lift off from Rangeley Lake.
