LOCATION - Moreau Lake State Park is 18 miles north of Saratoga off New York 9 in the foothills of the Adirondacks.


FEATURES - Moreau Lake covers 150 acres and is 50 feet at its deepest point. The park's "kettlehole" was formed by a glacier approximately 20,000 years ago.


ACTIVITIES - Camp in the 144-site campground, hike the trails, and enjoy a picnic. Fish for perch, catfish, trout, and bass. Launch your cartop boat or rent a rowboat. No motors are allowed on the lake.


Throughout the summer, attend various special events featuring musicians, drama, and storytellers. During the winter, go cross-country skiing and ice fishing for perch and pickerel.


Petrified Gardens is on New York 28 and is listed as a National Registered Landmark. It contains a reef of ancient petrified plants plus glacial crevices and potholes. It's open from 11:00-4:00 on Friday-Monday or by appointment by calling 518-584-7102.


In Saratoga Springs, tour the Historical Society's Museum and Walworth Memorial Museum and Casino in historic Congress Park. The museum highlights nineteenth-century resort life. For information, call 518-584-6920.

Incoming pilots can land at Saratoga County Airport 3 miles southwest of Saratoga Springs. Rental cars are available.
