LOCATION - The pond is 10 miles south of Newark off Delaware 896.


ACTIVITIES - Lums Pond covers 1,757 acres and has the state's largest freshwater pond. Anglers come to fish for bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and pickerel. Go boating from the ramp or pier. Swim from the guarded beach. Rent a boat from the full-service Summit North Marina on the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.


Take a hike or horseback ride on trails through the fields and forest. Work out on the fitness trail. Play horseshoes, basketball, tennis, volleyball, badminton, and shuffleboard. Golfers can play on the eighteen-hole disc golf course. Food service is available.


Stop by the nature center to see their "wall of bees" and take a naturalist-guided hike. Camp in the 68-site campground with a dumping station from April-October. During the winter, go cross-country skiing or snowmobiling.
