LOCATION - Cumberland Bay is one mile north of Plattsburgh off U.S. 9. Take Exit 39 off 1-87 onto New York 314.

Macomb Reservation is 3 miles west of Schuyler Falls off New York 22B.

Point Au Roche is 4 miles north of Plattsburgh and east of New York 9.


ACTIVITIES - At Cumberland Bay, camp in the 210-site campground from early May through early October. Fish and swim in the lake from with a 2,700-foot beach and purchase a snack.


Ausable Chasm is 12 miles south of Plattsburgh on U.S. 9. Take Exit 34 or 35 from Adirondack Northway 1-87. The chasm is open daily for tours mid-May through early October. Visitors go through the chasm first on foot along a gorge trail and then by boat to an awaiting bus. For information, call 518-834-7454.


Macomb Reservation is open from mid-May through Labor day and has 180 campsites. Hike the trails, go fishing, swimming, and boating on the lake in rowboats and canoes. During the winter, go cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, snowmobiling, and ice skating.


Point Au Roche is open year-round and is open for day-use only. Enjoy a picnic and hike 8 miles of trails. Go boating, fishing, and swimming. Ride the bicycle trail, tour the visitor center, and purchase a snack. Go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing during the winter.

Tour Clinton County Historical Museum at 48 Court in Plattsburgh to see 300 years of Champlain Valley history. Watch races at the Airborne Park Speedway on Saturday evenings. For information, call 802-244-6964.


Tour Plattsburgh Air Force Base Museum. Take Exit 36 off 1-87. The museum is the oldest combat-ready military installation in the U.S. and offers tours on Monday-Friday from 2:00-4:00. For information, call 518-565-6165.
