STONY POINT BATTLEFIELD STATE HISTORIC SITE
LOCATION - The State Historic Site is on Park Road off New York 9W, 2.5 miles north of Stony Point.
FEATURES - The storming of Stony Point by American forces under the command of General "Mad Anthony" Wayne was one of the most brilliant exploits of the American Revolution. The British post, which overlooks a
strategic colony ferry crossing, was captured in a daring midnight raid by American light infantry in July 1779.
ACTIVITIES - The site is open from April 15-October and the rest of the year by appointment only. The grounds are open Wednesday-Sunday from 10:30-5:00, and the museum is open 11:00-4:00. Exhibits and walking tours explain the daring raid. Picnic at sites overlooking the Hudson River.
