SEBAGO LAKE STATE PARK
LOCATION - The park is 3 miles south of Naples off U.S. 302.
FEATURES - Sebago Lake, 400 feet deep in places, is Maine's second largest lake and has 1,300 lakefront acres on both sides of the Songo River. Historic Songo Lock, built in 1830, links the north end of Long Lake, Sebago Lake, and Portland Harbor and was part of the Cumberland-Oxford Canal. Songo Lock still provides passage between Sebago Lake and Long Lake for recreational boaters.
ACTIVITIES - Enjoy picnicking, boating from the ramp, hiking, fishing for salmon, and swimming from the guarded beach in the Casco section's day-use area. The Naples section has a 250-site campground with a trailer dump station.
Take a ride aboard the Songo River Queen II, a replica of the early Mississippi River paddlewheelers. For information, call 207-693-6861. Visitors to Naples can also enjoy float plane and parasail rides.
Naples Historical Society Museum has a slide presentation on the C&O Canal and old Sebago-Long Lake steamboats.
