LONG POINT STATE PARK
LOCATION - The park is 12 miles south of Three Mile Bay, on Point Peninsula on Chaumont Bay in Lake Ontario. Chaumont is on New York 12E south of Cape Vincent.
ACTIVITIES - Camp in the 88-site campground by Long Bay, 18 with electrical hookups and a trailer dump station. Enjoy swimming, bicycling, walking, salmon fishing, and picnicking. In the winter, go ice fishing, crosscountry skiing, and snowmobiling.
Go boating on Lake Ontario or Chaumont Bay, which also has excellent fishing for bass, salmon, pike, walleye, and trout. Annual events include bass derbies, ice fishing competitions, and a triathlon. On July 4th, come for the Annual Pit Roast Beef Dinner. For details, call 315-649-2265.
Nearby attractions include Sackets Harbor Battlefield Historic Site, overlooking the only natural harbor at the east end of Lake Ontario, on the west side of Sackets Harbor village. Two battles were fought over this military stronghold during the War of 1812.
Tour the visitor center in the 1817 Union Hotel from late May through late September. For information, call 315-646-3634. Other attractions include Wellesley Island Shipyard Museum, Cape Vincent Aquarium open daily from 9:00-5:00 from May-October, and Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario.

Cape Vincent is known as the "home of the gamey black bass" where anglers have captured world title river muskies from mid-June until fall.
Tibbett's Point Lighthouse is at the outlet of Lake Ontario and head of the St. Lawrence River, 3 miles west of Cape Vincent. Built in 1827, it's still a beacon for sailors. The former keeper's cottage is now a youth hostel.
