OSBORNEDALE STATE PARK
LOCATION - Indian Well State Park is 2 miles northwest of Shelton on Connecticut 110.
Osbornedale State Park is one mile northwest of Derby off Connecticut 34.
FEATURES - Despite its name, Indian Well was never used as a well by local Indians and is known for its scenic waterfall.
ACTIVITIES - At Indian Well State Park you can launch your boats into Lake Housatonic from the western side of the lake. Bring along a picnic and go hiking, swimming, and fishing.
At Osbornedale, you can also enjoy a picnic, go for a hike, and fish in the Housatonic River. During the winter, go cross-country skiing or skating on the lighted pond. Take a scenic ride along the Housatonic River, leaving from the nation's oldest train station in continuous use since 1872. It leaves Union Station from the intersection of Connecticut 7 and 44. Osborne Homestead Museum, former estate of Frances Osborne-Kellogg, is one mile northwest of Derby off Connecticut 34, adjacent to Osbornedale State Park. Take a guided tour of the Colonial Revival home with eighteenth- and nineteenth-century furnishings and attend seasonal events. The museum has a good collection of antiques and art.
