LOCATION - Housatonic Meadows are one mile north of Cornwall Bridge off Connecticut 7 and southeast of Sharon, along the banks of the Housatonic River.
Kent Falls State Park is 3 miles north of Kent on Connecticut 7.
Lake Waramaug State Park is 5 miles north of New Preston on Lake Wara-maug Road, Connecticut 478.
ACTIVITIES - At Housatonic Meadows, go camping in the 102-site campground along the river under the tall pines. Fish for trout and bass with a 2-mile stretch of the river limited to flyfishing. Go hiking and canoeing and enjoy limited cross-country skiing in the winter.
Visitors come to Kent Falls to see its 200-foot cascade, particularly in the spring and fall. Follow the pathway adjacent to the falls. Go freshwater fishing and hiking.
Lake Waramaug is the site of the Women's National Rowing Regatta. Visitors can enjoy a picnic, camp in one of 88 sites, go fishing, boating with paddleboat rentals available, hiking, and scuba diving. The area has no ramp, so boats must be carried to the water. Concessions are available.
Hopkins Vineyard on Hopkins Road in Warren offers wine tasting in a nineteenth-century barn overlooking Lake Waramaug. For information, call 203-868-7954.
