Eisenhower National Historic Site

In Gettysburg, in south-central Pennsylvania

The 230-acre site preserves the former home and farm of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th president of the United State, and his wife Mamie. The farm served as a weekend retreat, a refuge in time of illness, and a gathering place for political groups and the Eisenhower family. Premier Khrushchev, Chancellor Adenauer, President de Gaulle, and other VIPs trooped over its fields and toured the cattle barns during Eisenhowers terms as president, when he used the farm for his personal style of diplomacy. From 1961 to 1969, the farm served as the couple's retirement home. The site was designated on November 27, 1967.
