Delaware STATE PARKS.  Detailed information for travelers of all Delaware STATE PARKS

Tiny Delaware was the first state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. Three state parks are located along its shoreline: Cape Henlopen, Delaware Seashore, and Fenwick Island state parks. Shell fishing is popular from May-November. The shores of Indian River and Rehoboth Bay are excellent for clamming and crabbing. Fish for sea trout, blue fish, and flounder from early spring through late fall. For fishing information from May-September, call 302-645-4246. Nonresidents need a trout stamp for stream fishing and a freshwater fishing license for all non-tidal fishing areas.

Delaware's state parks operate year-round nature centers at Brandywine Creek State Park and at Cape Henlopen State Park. Cape Henlopen is the eastern terminus of the American Discovery Trail. Seasonal naturalists offer interpretive programs at most of Delaware's 12 state parks from May 1-September 30. Hikers can explore 10 interpretive trails and accept a "Trail Challenge" for hiking in 15 of the state parks.
