LOCATION - The park is on Lake Bomoseen, 1/2 mile north of West Castle-ton and 4 miles north of Hydeville on West Shore Road.

 

ACTIVITIES - Camp in one of 66 wooded sites, including 10 lean-tos, open from mid-May through October. Go fishing for bass, perch, walleye, and record-sized rainbow trout. Go swimming from the beach and boating and canoeing in Lake Bomoseen with boat rentals available. Additional boating is available in nearby Golen Lake. Hike the trails, including slate history's self-guided trail to learn about early slate milling. Come in the fall to "leaf peep" when foliage reaches its peak.

Visit nearby Hubbardton Battlefield 7 miles off U.S. 4 in East Hubbardton. The July 1777 battle began a series of events which led to General Burgoyne's defeat at the Battle of Saratoga. Tour the visitor center's museum and walk along marked points in the battlefield. It's open Memorial Day through Columbus Day from Wednesday through Sunday.

Vermont's Marble Exhibit, the world's largest marble museum, is in Proctor on Main Street. Watch "Marble: The Sparkling Stone" and see marble relief carvings of the presidents. For information, call 802-459-3311, ext. 436.

Wilson Castle is 3,5 miles south of Proctor on West Proctor Road. It features 32 rooms with 84 stained glass windows and antiques from Europe and the Far East. For information, call 802-773-3284.
